They are absolutely irresistible! However, they need more than just our admiration and affection to get them through to their next chapter. To usher them through to all of their future life stages, puppies need so much more than food and water to become healthy, thriving dogs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Puppy Care Map<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Providing puppy care is one of life\u2019s greatest gifts. It\u2019s all in your control to serve them and deliver the necessary items for their well-being.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideally, you collect supplies before your new puppy comes home, but we know that spontaneous adoptions happen all the time. Generally speaking, your new puppy should have these basics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A comfortable bed<\/li><li>An appropriately-sized crate<\/li><li>Chew toys<\/li><li>Food\/water bowls<\/li><li>Age-appropriate food and healthy treats (necessary during training)<\/li><li>Leash<\/li><li>Collar<\/li><li>Baby gates (crucial in the art of housebreaking a puppy)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, puppy-proofing your home is critical to keeping them safe from harm. Be sure they cannot chew on or eat anything that could poison them or cause obstruction.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Next Steps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Adoptions through shelters or rescues usually take place after a puppy has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketplaceveterinary.com\/blog\/tips-for-spaying-and-neutering-your-pets\/\">spayed\/neutered<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketplaceveterinary.com\/blog\/what-to-know-about-microchipping-your-pet\/\"> microchipped<\/a>, vaccinated, and established with parasite prevention.
